Wii Fit has exercises for balance, aerobic fitness and muscle strength.

What is it? Wii Fit is the latest game released by Nintendo for the company’s popular Wii gaming console. “Game” may not the best word for it, though.

How so? It’s more like a virtual fitness instructor. It helps assess your physical condition (using measurements such as body mass index and age analysis); provides more than 40 muscle, balance and aerobic workouts; and tracks your fitness progress.

How does it work? Wii Fit comes with a platform called a “balance board.” Stand on this, and the system will calculate your physical statistics. When it’s time to exercise, your movements on the board allow you to control the on-screen action in activities such as yoga, jogging, heading soccer balls, rhythm boxing and even hula hoop.

Can kids use it? Yes. Nintendo describes Wii Fit as a health and lifestyle product suitable for the whole family. The system can store and compare data on up to eight users.
